The book Bud finds her gift, was very cute to see in class. I love seeing picture books brought into other subjects in school since we talk about it very little in our other classes. We read and hear about it mostly in our literacy class and even that was a very quick moment within the course. I find it important to incorporate picture books into teacher even at older ages because it can be a more accessible point for some students who are either English language learners or students who are striving readers. Picture books that are on topic can help gives students an accessible entry point into a topic. I find it important to be able to reach as many learners as possible and I also find this an interesting way to help indigenize the science curriculum especially with the book Bud finds her gift specifically with the author who is from the Potawatomi Nation, her book fits into the BC science curriculum and the kindergarten concept of observation in the multiple ways it shows up. However as we covered within the class there are books for most science topics.
