During class we were given a binder of the early learning framework, which is a collection of many resources, so far during the break I have been reading the first section called learning in the primary years. I find that this is helping me work towards competency 4 demonstrate an understanding of the complexity of teaching and learning through getting the learning and seeing the complexity of teaching especially at these younger years where you are setting these kids up for the rest of their lives, not just for future education. I am currently loving making the slow progress through the section and adding websites such as CASEL (Collaborative for academic, social, and emotional learning) and The Canadian Institution of Inclusive Education to my reading list. I am loving continuing my learning to be able to work with the students within my classes to be able to support them better.

I am excited to continue to read and learn about the complexity of people. I am currently reading Unmasking Autism by Devon Price to know more about autism, and I am reading through the Early Learning framework to see what the BC ministry wants teachers to know. However, I am struggling to keep up with it all, With coursework and also soon to be working again, I am struggling to find a way to balance further learning with still existing as a person outside of a teacher candidate student. I am excited to keep learning I just know I need to find myself a balance before I burn myself out and start hating the learning because it becomes too much.

From my reading through Learning in the primary years so far I have pulled the points of how well the Early learning framework crosses with the First peoples’ principles of learning and a quote from page 34 ā€œThere is no replacement for responsive teachingā€. I find that quote key and something that I want to bring into teaching in any role I take on.
